The Woolmark Company's Sleep Comfort Rating symbol, which can be applied to approved wool bedding products, was introduced to leading bedding manufacturers at Heimtextil for industry discussion and research.
Designed for use by Woolmark licencees who manufacture or retail approved bedding products, the Sleep Comfort Rating symbol has been created for use at retail level. It acts as a graphic rating system for consumers to assess which quilts, blankets, duvets and comforters will deliver a better night's sleep.
Woolmark used this opportunity to research and gain industry advice and support for the new symbol which will become the graphic 'face' of Woolmark's Sleeping Comfort study. Conducted by The Woolmark Company and the University of Sydney's Faculty of Health Science, and funded by Australian Wool Innovation Limited, the Sleeping Comfort Study showed that wool bedding products enjoy wool's natural features of comfort and quality.
Plus, the moisture retention and wicking properties of wool help you to stay at a comfortable temperature and dry, with less sweating and overheating. The project combined human and laboratory tests, and established that wool bedding products breathe more naturally than synthetic products; increase the duration of the most beneficial phase of sleep known as the REM or Rapid Eye Movement sleep stage; and regulate body temperature – the body gets to a comfortable sleeping temperature more quickly and stays there for longer.
