Retailers pick the best footwear brands of 2006

The 8th annual Plus Awards, celebrating excellence in design in 20 distinguished footwear categories, are announced.

Footwear Plus announced the winners of its coveted Plus Awards at the WSA Show, the industry's largest trade fair, in Las Vegas on February 1. This year's winners represent the best in footwear fashion, as voted on by their retailer partners.

“For 17 years Footwear Plus has been in the business of supporting and showcasing footwear design. With the Plus Awards, we're able to bring the industry together to recognize the incredible talent and hard work that goes into each season's design efforts,” stated publisher Stephen Schwartz.

“Congratulations to all of the winners this year for a design job well done. In a highly competitive market where the pace of fashion trends continues to increase, being recognized as the best is a significant accomplishment,” stated Greg Dutter, Editorial Director of Footwear Plus magazine.

“The Plus Awards are the only industry accolades nominated and voted on by retailers—the experts who have a front-row seat on what brands and styles performed best in their stores in 2006.” The Plus Awards, co-sponsored by Gore-Tex Footwear and OrthoLite Comfort Insoles, were presented in 20 categories, including Athletic, Comfort, Dress, Children's, Work and Outdoor.
