Government has decided to invest in the upcoming special economic zone (SEZ) with high-tech industries in Myanmar.

Myanmar Vietnam Joint Trade Committee has proposed that both nations make efforts to raise bilateral trade volume to US$100 million in financial year 2007-08, which begins from April.

Myanmar exports timber to Vietnam. It imports clothing materials, chemicals, pharmaceuticals and construction materials from the country.

Bilateral trade volume between both countries stood at $60 million per annum during previous years.

Myanmar plans to establish six free trade zones under a new SEZ regulation to come in force soon. Trade fairs will also be organized in major cities of these nations to expand bilateral trade.
