Business slightly cooled off during the week under report. While the cotton quotations in New York followed a downtrend, the Cotlook A Index kept its position in comparison to the week before, as consequence of the unchanged firm offers from the countries of origin.
Despite general mill interest in further purchases, most buyers considered the prices asked for the new crop as too high. The turnovers were mainly limited on near dates and restricted quantities.
In the Upland range were traded: West African types for the 1st to 3rd quarter 2007; Central Asian sorts for the 1st quarter 2007; Greek descriptions for the 1st quarter 2007; Spanish cotton for the 2nd quarter 2007; East Africa / Mozambique for dates in the 1st and 2nd quarter 2007; Zimbabwe for the 1st and 2nd quarter 2007 as well as Indian cotton for the 2nd quarter 2007.
In the range of ELS/LS cottons were committed: Egyptian GIZA 70 for the 2nd quarter 2007 and Sudan Barakat for the 1st quarter 2007.
