Feb '07
The New York's fashion week which showcases the autumn collection starts at the Mercedes-Benz-sponsored Bryant Park tent complex in Manhattan today.

Designers like Oscar de la Renta, Ralph Rucci, Carolina Herrera, Vera Wang, Narciso Rodriguez, Marc Jacobs, Donna Karan, Ralph Lauren, Tommy Hilfiger and Michael Kors will showcase men's and women's collection which will be shelved in stores coming summer.

New talents like Proenza Schouler, Behnaz Sarafpour, Lyn Devon, Alice Roi and Zac Posen will try to make a mark for the coming season.

Women's evening wear designers hope to see their creations at the red-carpet of upcoming Oscars.

Designers from across the globe like Brazil, China, Great Britain, Turkey will be displaying their creation during the week.

All the focus at this New York fashion week will be on the trends in apparel and accessories for the fall.

Dennis Basso who is known for his signature coats and jackets will for the first time present his ready-to-wear collection.

Veterans predict this fall collection will see the return of the suit, both pant and skirt along with stronger shoulder in jackets.

The colour range will include shades of gray, navy, teal, jade green and yellow along with metallics like Burnished silver as well as copper. Hues of red, navy and beige can be seen a lot.

This fall will see Knitwear especially turtlenecks, cropped and hip-length jackets, opaque tights instead of leggings. White shirts and wide collars will be among favourites this autumn. High-waisted skirts, full structured sleeves will also be in vogue.

As far as shoes are concerned pumps will reign this season.

Retailers like H&M and Zara are also trying to create inexpensive versions of high-fashion pieces.
