Last year, Zhejiang province's silk industry witnessed drastic decrease in exports.

According to experts, one of major reasons for decrease in silk's export is implementation of anti-dumping duty by India.

Since last six months of 2006, silk exports to India have reduced nearly by 50 percent.

Domestic prices of silk are rising continuously and this has led to increase in the export price of it.

Less value addition and lack of innovation are major drawback of silk exported.

In recent years, purchasing power of the people has increased, leading to surge in domestic demand of silk.
