An illegal strike at the Allahabad unit of Indian Petrochemicals corporation Ltd. (IPCL) has forced the management of the company to declare a lock-out with effect from 6.00 PM, February 4, 2007.

Illegal striker's behavior was causing undue tension, fear and apprehension amongst members of the management and their families. Hence for the sake of the personal safety of the employees and to forestall any unforeseen adverse circumstances arising out of the prevalent situation, the company was forced to take this decision, said the official communique.

The decision of the management to declare a lock-out has been conveyed to the appropriate authorities, it stated.
