Stop Corporations from profiting from fur

Burberry was once known for its plaids, but now the design house's name has become synonymous with red—as in the blood of countless animals who are caged, tortured, and killed by "Bloody Burberry" in the name of "fashion."

PETA has launched a global campaign to get design houses and retailers to stop promoting or using real fur. Working behind the scenes, PETA has already gotten Polo Ralph Lauren to swear off fur, and now Armani is set to announce that it, too, will go completely fur-free. Burberry remains one of the worst corporate offenders.

Throughout February, I will be updating you about the state of the fur trade and giving you several opportunities to take action to stop the slaughter of animals. Today, I'd like to urge you to send an e-mail to the CEO of Burberry to express your outrage over the company's cruelty to animals.

PETA recently showed Burberry executives graphic video evidence of what happens to animals in the fur trade:
Animals caught in furriers' traps—especially mothers who are desperate to return to their young—often resort to chewing off their own legs in order to escape.

Animals who can't free themselves may suffer for days before trappers arrive to stomp, strangle, suffocate, or beat them to death.

Animals' arrival at fur farms only prolongs their agony. Fur farmers confine animals to filthy wire cages, often without giving them access to basic necessities like clean water.

If animals die in their cages, their terrified and often-starving cagemates may eat their bodies in a desperate attempt not to starve to death.

Despite knowing how horribly animals suffer when they are raised and killed for fur—and with so many fashionable, warm, and comfortable alternatives to fur available today—Burberry keeps on selling it.
