Committee for International Co-operation between Cotton Associations (CICCA) formally accepted China Cotton Association as its 17 member on February 5.
CICCA is an international association composed by main cotton-producing countries and associations of cotton consuming countries. Its purpose is to preserve the sanctity of contracts, implement international trade arbitral awards in cotton business, and provide a fair competition environment for global cotton trade.
As the world's largest country in cotton production, consumption and imports, China's influence in international cotton industry is growing. Association, as the cotton industry trade organization, has been working hard to strengthen international exchanges and cooperation since its establishment.
It has won high recognition among cotton associations of other countries and international cotton industry, so the voice of asking China Cotton Association to join international organizations has been getting higher and higher.
In order to make China's cotton industry better participate in international cooperation, and win the right to speak as well as the initiative in international community, being approved by the State Council, China Cotton Association, as representative of China's cotton industry, applied to join CICCA, and captured approval.
The relevant person in charge said, in the future, they are willing to work together with other CICCA members to promote the implementation of cotton arbitration outcome in various countries, to defend the legal validity of contracts, to boycott the 'blacklist' named by all CICCA members and to maintain the system of fair cotton trade.
