Mahila Udyog Mela displays plethora of handicrafts

Mahila Udyog Mela, which was organized at the Lala Lajpat Rai Memorial Hall, received good response. Fair was ended yesterday.

Women entrepreneurs running small cottage industries had put up stalls at the three day mela. There were 70 stalls in total, visited by large number of people.

Bamboo craft, terracotta, hand embroidery, applique and ceramic works, Madhubani paintings and Tikuli work were on display at handicraft stalls. Garment stalls offered readymade clothes, dresses for men, women and kids, handmade and machine-knitted garments for sale.

Collection of outfits for ladies and children featuring exquisite designs and stitching was exhibited by Punita Sinha of L A Bella boutique. Sujit Chakravarty presented a charming range of designer dresses.

Embroidery works, Pune saris, chikan suits, nighties and frocks were showcased by Santosh Singh, owner of Kanya Boutique. Madhubani artwork, Sujni and Kasida were available at the Hastakala stall.
