Iran's agricultural statistics offices are unable to provide precise cotton import figures because the crop is imported through various trade sources.
Speaking to the media yesterday, Cotton Fund Managing Director Mohammad Kaviani informed that both Agriculture Ministry and Customs Administration, which are major information providers, fail to give reliable figures of cotton import.
He added that Government must ensure stringent measures to monitor cotton importation, since local textile sector is demanding exact import numbers to prevent buying low quality cotton.
