Technology innovation top priority for textiles, experts

Recently, more than 200 professionals from home and abroad gathered at the Second Annual Conference of China Textile Round Table Forum to analyze the development for China's textile industry.
Based on the conclusion of China's textile economic development, participants forecasted textile economic issues and overall trend in 2007, which focused on technological innovations and famous brand building. They agreed that focusing on improving the ability of innovation and brand building would be the future development of textile industry.
In 2006, China's textile and garment industries exported US $147 billion. Export product value significantly enhanced. Exports to US were $23.1 billion, an increase of 18 percent in export value. Exports to EU were $22.9 billion, up 21.68 percent over the previous year.
Chinese textiles quality and varieties have been acknowledged by the world. Experts agreed that this is an inevitable result of international industrial restructuring. Country has quality labor, rich industrial varieties from upstream to downstream.
At the forum, many experts pointed out, to change the mode of economic growth in the textile industry, the most crucial factor is the industrial innovation and improving innovation ability. The key for innovation is technological innovation and brand building.
