Paolo Banfi, ACIMIT President, commented: “It is obvious that these preliminary balance figures need still to be confirmed by definitive results and have to be considered as the starting-point of a development course which should be consolidated during current year and in the years to come. Only in this way we shall be able to consider as concluded the shake-up phase of the sector and can feel confident about the future”.

In its fifth edition, ACIMIT Osservatorio proposes some hints for a reflection, focusing its attention on the competitive strategies which the Italian companies need to adopt in order to ensure the maintenance of their leading role on the world scenario. The study, carried out by Prometeia, an Italian consultancy firm, gives a faithfully realistic graphic account of the Italian textile machinery industry, basing on the balance-sheets of the companies and on the world trade flows in the period 1990-2005.

Just on the theme of knowing the needs and requirements of the customers, a debate was held among the participants in the open forum which followed the presentation of the survey. Some representatives of Italian firms as Rino Morani (Itema Group), Alberto M. Sacchi (Htp Unitex) and Renato Zanca (Mesdan) offered their experience in the development of “long distance” connection nets, overcoming district borders.
