Last year, Malaysia surpassed Japan, South Korea and UK to emerge as leading investor in the country as its investment stood at US $2.2 billion.
During this period, growth rate of investment increased by 20 percent compared to 2005.
Similarly, Malaysia became seventh largest partner with bilateral trade of $9.72 billion last year after Japan, the European Union, the US, Singapore, China and South Korea.
Moreover, imports from Malaysia reached $4.38 billion in 2006 and exports were $5.34 billion.
For past five years, trade between these two countries had gained a positive trend of 21.8 percent.
