Russian multinational Viazma Group and Taiwan Textile Research Institute (TTRI) inked a contract in Taipei on March 2, 2007, under which TTRI will give technical support and also introduce flax fibre production techniques to Viazma's textile subsidiary in Russia.
These techniques will be implemented at Viazma's new linen unit, largest in Russia. Further, TTRI will co-operate in setting up machinery at its current plant and give guidance on distribution and marketing of products.
TTRI is supposed to assist Viazma in making a business plan to successfully market products in Asia and Russia as well as provide technology on high-tech fabrics with unmatched properties.
Founded in 1964, Viazma's textile subsidiary manufactures short flax fibre, used to produce fabrics like yarn. Trade relations could be enhanced between both nations in fields of textile technology and machine building technology.
Presently, company is focusing on purchase of machinery to increase production, expanding its product range and buying high quality dye finishing machines to raise output of fine yarn and fabrics.
