Private units account for 50% of Guangdong clothing exports

Currently, half of Guangdong clothing exports are from private enterprise who have become the main force in promoting garment export growth in the province.

It is learned that clothing exports by private enterprises in 2005 reached US $4.74 billion, increasing 31 times over 2001. During January-December in 2006, garment exports by private enterprises recorded US $12.47 billion, a growth of 2.2 times over the previous year, ranking first among all kinds of enterprises in Guangdong, with export value accounting for 50 percent of the garment exports of the province.

As dominant industries of Guangdong, textile and garment industries have maintained healthy growth trend, even after experiencing series unfavorable factors, such as the abolition of world quotas, export restrictions imposed by EU and US. Finally, successfully overcoming the impact of trade frictions by concluding new agreements and taking up innovative projects.

It is reported that the main reason for a large number of garment exports by private enterprises in Guangdong should thank for their flexible operation mechanism and sensitive market sense, which has provided a developing space for them to rapidly explore overseas markets.
