Jiangsu textile & garment exports swell in Jan

Textile and garment exports from Jiangsu marked US $1.93 billion in January this year, growth rate was 16.7 percent higher over the same time in 2005, reaching 29.4 percent.
Exports to EU and US increased by 65.1 percent and 55.5 percent, respectively, and market share stood at 41.9 percent, up 8.2 percent over the same period of last year.
Among the textile and garment exports in January, private, foreign-funded enterprises showed a strong growth trend, while state-owned enterprises remained stable.
Export growth of private, foreign-funded enterprises were 44 percent and 33.7 percent, respectively, about 10.3 percent and 14.3 percent higher than the responding period in 2005. State-owned enterprises maintained stable growth of 12.7 percent.
The single month exports of private enterprises broke $500 million in eight consecutive months, accounting for 28.3 percent, setting the highest level in history.
