At present, one third of India's garment machinery is from China, making it the largest export destination for sewing gears, in 2006. Sewing machinery exports to India earned nearly US $200 million, up 51 percent over 2005 and accounted for 15 percent of the total export value of the entire industry.
According to the latest information provided by India Garment Association, from 2006 to 2010, Indian garment industry will maintain an investment growth rate of 23 percent in introducing sewing machinery.
This implies Indian annual demand for sewing machinery will be increased from over 700,000 sets in 2005-06 to two million sets in 2010-2011. India will be a great potential market for China's sewing machinery industry.
