Cotton carryover stocks decline 22% on higher consumption

Central India is estimated to produce 163 lakh bales, unchanged, (Gujarat - 93 lakh bales, Maharashtra - 52 lakh bales, Madhya Pradesh - 18 lakh bales), while the entire southern region is expected to produce 43 lakh bales (Andhra Padesh - 32 lakh bales, Karnataka - 6 lakh bales and Tamil Nadu - 5 lakh bales), a fall of 1 lakh bales from the CAB's previous estimates at 44 lakh bales three months ago. Orissa and other eastern states are expected to produce 1 lakh bales this season.
The CAB estimated a slight increase in acreage so far this season to 91.58 lakh hectare from 91.32 lakh hectare last year.
