257 exhibitors including exhibitors from China presented a wide variety of yarns, fabrics, furnishings and made-ups, accessories, textile gifts and publications related to the textile industry in an area of over 16,000 sq. mtr. Added features of the fair included Theme Pavilion by National Institute of Design and Fabric Folio by Pearl Academy of Fashion. A new concept of “Designers Gallery” with leading designers from India was also introduced. The show also gave panoramic view of the enhanced range of products and exquisite styling trends in the textiles industry.

The 13th edition of this four day fair was inaugurated on 27th February, 2007 by the Hon'ble Union Minister of State for Textiles, Mr E V K S Elangovan. Another interesting aspect of the Exhibition was the award distribution for three categories: furnishings, fashion fabrics and designers.

Since its inception, the fair has served the cause of the industry and exports by acting as a reliable show window to the state of global development in this key sector of Indian economy. In the process, it has become the largest event of its kind in India, which has catalysed the modernisation drive and technology absorption in the industry to enable it to face the challenges and opportunities in the quota free regime and competitive environment.

In the last few years, India has been moving towards redefining and reinventing its role in the fashion world, preparing itself for a quota free regime. India is expected to further consolidate its position in the home textile markets of leading importing countries. The Indian textile industry (including garments) is aiming at an annual export target of US$ 50 billion by the year 2010, almost three times the current figure of US$ 17 billion.

“Tex-Styles India 2007” with institutional support of every kind, was organised in collaboration with Ministry of Textiles, Office of the Textile Commissioner, Textiles Committee and related Export Promotion Councils. The focus of this show was on participants, business and international visitors and buying agents who have made this event an annual forum for transactions. It is one of the major ITPO fairs, which has come to be recognised the world over and is fast emerging as one of the main events in this field in South-East Asia.
