Tamil Nadu industries asked Government to do more for faster industrial growth at the meeting of `Special taskforce for industrial development', chaired by Chief Minister M Karunanidhi, here on Monday.
Their request was to incorporate flexible labour laws, speedy clearance of special economic zones (SEZs) and industrial parks, environmental and pollution control projects, setting up of a Tamil Nadu Export Promotion Board and announcement of a separate export promotion policy, rationalisation of power tariff, extension of special schemes for textiles and sugar and development of ports, airports and highways.
Tirupur Exporters' Association (TEA), President A Sakthivel informed that a new company, `Textile Eco Solutions Tamil Nadu Ltd' has been formed for settling the effluent problem in textile sector.
The company will lay a pipeline passing through major textile production centres to carry the treated effluent to sea.
M Rafeque Ahmed, former Chairman of Council for Leather Exports and President, FICCI, Tamil Nadu region, called for speedy clearance of footwear parks in the state.
The Chief Minister said Government was committed to creating better infrastructure for industrial development and export promotion. He said the Government is ready to find solutions to the various problems the industries in the state face. To create major infrastructure like airports, port and railways, the state would seek the support of the Centre, he said.
