Fire erupted at a storage section of Guilford Performance Textiles on 200 Dickens road yesterday night. Nearly 50 workers of second shift were vacated for two hours after news of fire spread.

Guilford plant manufactures polyester yarn. Fuquay-Varina fire department was called at 8 pm, and fire tenders doused the flames within half an hour. They also tried to clear smoke from the building.

Portion of a plant burnt by fire is utilized to store old boxes. Hence no employees were present there during the mishap, according to Supervisor Creola Harrington.
