Durable consumer goods gained 3.8% in the euro area and 5.3% in the EU27. Non-durable consumer goods rose by 3.4% and 2.8% respectively. Production of energy fell by 6.3% in the euro area and by 6.1% in the EU27.
In January 2007, and among the Member States for which data are available, industrial production rose in seventeen Member States and fell in four.
The highest increases were registered in Slovakia (+17.4%), Poland (+15.6%), Ireland (+9.0%) and Germany (+7.1%), while decreases were recorded in the Netherlands (-3.6%), Finland (-3.2%), the United Kingdom (-0.5%) and France (-0.2%).
