Small industries established in Dakshina Kannada district

In a monthly review meeting of Karnataka developmental Programmes, Zilla Panchayat President Sushma Janardhan revealed that Khadi and Gramodyoga Mandali has achieved 139 percent progress by establishing 68 tiny industries in Dakshina Kannada district during 2006-07.
Further, she added that during the meeting that District Industrial Centre had approved 732 small industries units last year.
According to Sushma Janardhan, sericulture department has produced 4,289 metric ton double species and 3,878 metric ton bivoltin silk in the district.
Zilla Panchayat Vice-President Rajashree Hegde, Standing Committee Presidents Sundar Salian, Abdul Aziz Malar and Asha Thimmappa Gowda, Zilla Panchayat Secretary Shivashankar, Project Officer Thakathrao, Chief Accountant Thimmappa and district level officials were present during the meeting.
