Wenzhou's shoe & clothing firms boost shelf industry

Development of footwear and garment sectors in Wenzhou city facilitates the growth of textile raw material industry. It also promotes local shelf industry, turnover of which has increased by CNY1 billion per annum.
There were just four or five shelf enterprises in Wenzhou during 2000, but today there are dozens of such firms. Yet, these firms fail to match footwear and apparel companies in opening new franchise shops and renovating existing ones.
A local worker informed that he and his colleagues had toiled overtime everyday during July and August last year, but they could produce only six sets of shelves against demand of 20-30 sets per day by their company.
Some shelf enterprises plan to raise production capacity. Whenever a new garment or shoe franchise store is launched or an existing one is revamped, local shelf industry gets fresh business opportunities.
