The opening ceremony of Axens (Beijing) Trading Co Ltd was held on January 15th, 2007, in Beijing. The ceremony was attended by the representatives of the foremost state-owned and private companies in the Chinese Oil & Gas sector.
Axens Beijing will promote development of Axens' activities by strengthening relationships with Chinese customers and delivering local technical services to Axens licensees.
Axens started its activity in China in the mid 1970's. Today, more than 100 Axens processes are operated in China in the fields of hydrogenation, catalytic reforming, oligomerization, and aromatics production (principally benzene and paraxylene).
As of today, the total paraxylene production capacity licensed by Axens in China is 3,700,000 tons per year.
A subsidiary of the Institut Français du Pétrole (IFP), Axens licensing activity dates back to the mid 1950's; approximately 2,000 process technologies have been licensed by Axens worldwide.
Jean-Christophe Dolignier, previously Axens' Regional Sales Manager for process licensing in Far East Asia, has been named Managing Director of the new company.
Axens was formed on July 1, 2001 through the merger of IFP's technology licensing division with Procatalyse Catalysts & Adsorbents. Axens is a refining, petrochemical and natural gas market focused company offering market-leading products including processes, catalysts, adsorbents and equipment, backed by nearly fifty years of R&D and industrial success.
