The region would require an investment of around Rs2,500-2,800 crore over next 5-10 years to develop the region resulting into employment for about 38,000 people, according to AT Kearney's feasibility report.
Special purpose vehicle formed by IOC, Haryana State Industrial Development Corporation and private developers, will undertake development of petrochemical hub.
Other petrochemical hubs may come up at Dahej in Gujarat, Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh, Haldia in West Bengal, Mangalore in Karnataka and Paradip in Orissa.
