Malaysia is keen to improve bilateral relations with the UAE.
Shaikha Lubna Al Qasimi, UAE's Minister of Economy, met with Malaysian Minister of Foreign Trade and Industry Rafida Aziz at a joint Malaysian-UAE workshop held March 22, 2007 in Dubai. They discussed issues of trade, economic and investment co-operation.
Rafida Aziz is heading an 80 member high level economic and investment delegation to the country.
Malaysia is the preferred tourism spot for locals, while UAE is Malaysia's largest trade partner in West Asia.
Trading volume between both nations upturned 19.4 percent from 2005 to $3.2 billion this year. Malaysian exports, especially gems and jewellery, to the country surged 21.1 percent to $938.3 million.
Malaysia's redundancy rate is just 3.5 percent. Its foreign currency reserves stood at $86.9 billion last February.
