University to offer Jewellery Design diploma

SinGem, India's largest jewellery education network and Jadavpur University's Project Impact have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to facilitate students to pursue career oriented studies under university banner.

Joint effort in fields of programme content development, faculty and sharing of infrastructure are involved as per the agreement.

According to MoU, SinGem's one-year Gem and Jewellery Professional (GJP) Diploma shall be offered under aegis of Jadavpur University.

SinGem has been making effort to increase appeal of jewellery education for an attractive career option for about ten years.

The GJP program fees has been brought down to Rs32,000 from Rs1.08 lakhs, under scholarship programme.

Training in various fields of gem and jewellery is provided with emphasis on costume jewellery and silver-smithing.

Admissions are based on entrance test, group discussion and interviews and admission process will commence from April 5, 2007 and will get over by July.

Classes will be taken in the SinGem centres at Bhowanipore, Shovabazar, Salt Lake, Howrah and Rishra and also at the Jadavpur University campuses at Jadavpur and Salt Lake.
