Krishnamurthy instrumental in enhancing Indo-Japan trade

The Confederation of Indian Industry commemorated Dr. V.Krishnamurthy, Chairman, National Manufacturing Competitiveness Council at a Special Ceremony organized in Delhi. His Excellency, Mr. Y.Enoki, Ambassador of Japan to India, handed over the Nakajima Prize that was conferred upon Dr. Krishnamurthy by the Japan Institute of Productivity Management in Japan last month. Dr. Krishnamurthy is the only Indian to receive this coveted honor.
Lauding Dr. Krishnamurthy's efforts in enhancing the India Japan trade and friendship, Mr. Enoki said “For us he is a real leader, both for the joint and private sector. He is famous as the Chairman of Maruti responsible for the marriage between Maruti and Suzuki. For this achievement Japan is grateful to him”.
Talking about the increased trade activity between India and Japan over the last one year the Ambassador added, “Japanese establishments in India have grown by 50% in the last one year. The number that stood at 320 last January, stood at 470 in February 2007. And, this does not include the large deals.”
Thanking Japan, and in particular JIPM, for recognizing his efforts, Dr. V.Krishnamurthy, in his acceptance speech said, “This award is not only a recognition of my efforts but the efforts of the Indian industry in adopting TPM. More particularly, it is the recognition of CII's efforts, who have spearheaded the TPM movement in India.”
“India has learnt a lot from Japanese industry and professionals who started coming to India after the Maruti Suziki partnership. They brought along a number of associated companies. Indian manufacturing industry has received tremendous support and help from Japan,” said Dr. Krishnamurthy.
