According to China's customs statistics, silk exports reached US $1.381 billion from January to February, a year-on-year increase of 15.45 percent. Among them, silk exports were $615 million, a boost of 4.05 percent and man-made fiber silk exports were $766 million, a year-on-year rise of 26.6 percent.
In February, China's silk exports hit $679 million, a surge of 56.41 percent. The rapid growth of exports in February boosted the overall growth of silk product exports for the period.
The top eight major export markets were the US, UAE, Italy, Hong Kong, India, Japan, Germany and Pakistan. Except the decline of 17.28 percent in exports to Japan, that to all other major markets improved by various degrees. Infact, exports to the UAE and Germany recorded climb of more than 20 percent and that to Pakistan hiked 71.2 percent.
The top five export provinces were Zhejiang, Jiangsu, Shanghai, Guangdong and Sichuan.
