Ralf Reichwald (Munich Technical University) will be providing a definition of interactive added value and describing how customers can be incorporated into the system as active partners in the value creation process. The afternoon will be devoted to presentations on “Creating added value through process control”.

The presentations will cover a broad range of issues from the clothing sector, including topics that fall within IMB's core areas of expertise. Examples of this are the use of information technology for joining systems, which will be described in a separate presentation. Other presentations will address the creation of internal and external networks for shared databases, the incorporation of 3D model development into the production process, and the management of supplier/trade relationships (with and without the use of RFID technology).

The theme for the second day of the forum is “Meeting customer requirements – adapting technologies and processes”. The presentations will focus on the requirements of the automotive and automotive supplier industries, and showcase various concepts for organizing logistical processes.

Lorenz Fuhrlinger (Audi), for example, will be reporting on his company's experience with the virtual 3D design of car seats. The lunchtime hours of the second day will be devoted to the results of the EU research project L.E.A.P.F.R.O.G. (Leadership for European Apparel Production From Research along Original Guidelines).

As was the case in 2006, when a separate event was held at the same time as IMB, this year's IMB Forum will once again host a special series of presentations on “Collaborative virtual clothing design and prototype creation” as well as “Expanded smart garment organization”.

Participants will be introduced to these topic areas by representatives from the leading research institutes for the project. More specifically, the introduction for the first topic area will be held by a representative from the Institut Hohenstein in Bönnigheim, while a representative from DITF Management Research, Denkendorf, will be introducing the second topic area.

On both days of the IMB Forum, the presentations will be supplemented by a new feature known as the Speakers Corner, where exhibitors will have the opportunity to present their latest products and innovations. For this purpose, Koelnmesse will set up a second presentation area devoted exclusively to exhibitor presentations.
