“I would like to congratulate Minister McGauran, along with the Prime Minister and his Cabinet; for recognising the value of the Australian wool industry.
“I would also like to thank Les Targ, AWI Deputy CEO in particular for his strategic management of the integration, and Peter McKeown, Company Secretary and General Counsel of AWS; for their seamless cooperation to progress this matter.
“The Australian wool industry's peak bodies are also to be thanked for their support throughout our discussions, and acknowledged for their patience going forward as we move to a conclusion.
“The process of integrating AWI and AWS will involve a lot of work, and I am sure that there will continue to be the same level of cooperation between the two companies.
“This is one of the most important announcements in the history of the wool industry, providing clarity for our international customers and all Australian woolgrowers.”
