According to sources, China plans to purchase US $12.5 billion of US commodities before senior government officials from the US visit China in May this year.

This shows that even after the US made the decision of import restrictions on Chinese products, China will continue its commodity procurement from the US as usual.

Analysts pointed out that it was obviously intended to relieve the serious trade imbalance, which caused tense situation; it was a plateful of beef taken to the US.

China plans to import from the US about $10 billion of electromechanical products, $2 billion of soybeans and $500 million of cotton. If this were confirmed, it would help to reduce China's huge trade surplus.

Analysts point out, although US side showed tough position, China also expressed dissatisfaction.

Experts further add that if Sino-US trade disputes further deteriorated, there will still be possibility for Chinese Government to reduce or completely remove the annual procurement plan from the US. This is a powerful trump card for Chinese Government.
