The following are the details on the recent Workshop of PRODUCTION PLANNING conducted by Chennai Office:-
The Apparel Export Promotion Council (AEPC) Chennai has organised a Workshop on PRODUCTION PLANNING in association with Mr. Roger Thomas on 20th April 2007 at GRT Convention Hall here in Chennai. Mr. Viswanath Shegaonkar, I.A.S., Secretary (Textiles, Handlooms & Khadi), Government of Tamil Nadu was the Chief Guest and Mr. Ranjit Shah, President of Apparel Handloom Exporters Association Chennai Presided over the function. Mr. Prakash Vasudevan, Convenor of LMC, ATDC Mogappair welcomed the dignitories and participants.
There were 81 participants from 31 export houses of Chennai. Mr. Prakash Vasudevan while welcoming guests and gathering, said that the Apparel Industry is facing lot of challenges in post quota regime and stressed the need of modernisation of the Industry.
He had also requested the Secretary (Textiles & Handlooms) Govt of Tamil Nadu to help the industry in solving the labour problems persisting with the Industry. Mr. Vasudevan also expressed that the ATDC and the district authorities of the State Government should work together on providing training to the unemployed youth of the State to convert them as skilled persons to be utilised by the production units of this Industry.
Mr. Ranjit Shah, President of the Apparel Handloom Exporters Association, Chennai in his presidential address, mentioned about the stiff competition exists in the Global Market. Mr. Shah also mentioned that keeping in view of rupee value getting stronger and lowering of other benefits for the Apparel Exports, Government authorities should come forward to provide more incentives to promote export of Ready-Made Garments from our State. He also narrated during his speech that their Association reached with an MOU with South Korea for promotion of this Industry.
