Marriages are made in heaven but you wait! Their cost will immediately bring you down to earth. This is what Shanghai people are feeling as people spend around RMB16 billion on marriages every year.

Though the number of marriages in Shanghai has decreased, wedding expense increases.

The fitment expense accounts for 42.16 percent, goods for a new house take up over 18 percent, wedding cost 19.70 percent, other expenses like wedding clothing, the honeymoon travel account for about 15 percent.

More and more newly-wedded like to buy wedding gown, so much so that around 50 percent couple buy the gown, and other choose to rent.

China Society Work Association sponsored China International Wedding Attire Exhibition will be held in Shanghai and Beijing, where specially designed gowns are to be displayed for brides-to-be.

From this, we can say that matrimony is a matter of money.
