Swiss textiles - on a new high!

Talking of Switzerland reminds us of snow clad mountains and skiing, but if we do not hark on textiles then we are truly missing more!

Swiss are innovative and have gone hi-tech as regards textiles is concern, informs Karin Jung, Head of Economy and Statistics Department, Swiss Textile Federation.

Speaking exclusively to over the phone, Jung says, "Structural changes are almost complete and now, the industry has set it self on the path of high growth as the demand for hi-tech and innovative textiles is increasing worldwide."

Be it hi-tech fashions, medical textiles, innovative embroidery patterns, industrial textiles - special and quality applications are mark out Swiss textile makers from others in the league.

As regards markets, Karin says, "Europe Union member countries like Germany, Italy, France and others; USA, China are among the other ones ready to lap all that comes from Swiss textile makers."

Turning to trade wars, she views that quotas have by and large unaffected business in her country, but adds that exports have remained steady over the past two years.

Swiss companies are driven by ideas and research, and when it comes to funding projects, Government extends help to such industries to realize them, Jung states.

However, industry - academia partnership gels well and the fruits of these are seen to be believed.
