Human capital needs to be tapped properly by manufacturing sector

Shri R. Seshasayee, President of CII, in his keynote address, expressed optimism regarding the association of industry and the academic world which has come together to develop the PGPEX-VLM.
He highlighted 3 key challenges facing the Indian industry viz, development of quality higher education; enabling the manufacturing industry to attract and retain best talent and to develop a critical mass of intellectual property through R&D initiatives. He hoped that these concerns would be ably met through PGPEX-VLM programme.
The programme is of one-year duration and the first session (2007-08) will commence in August 2007. The eligibility for admission is a first class degree in any branch of engineering along with minimum 5 years of experience in manufacturing and related sector. The tuition fee for the programme would be Rs.5 lakh.
The launch programme was also attended by Shri Ravi Mathur, Jt. Secretary, Ministry of HRD; Shri Rajeev Ranjan, NMCC, Prof. Shekhar Chaudhri, Director, IIM/Calcutta; Prof. Sanjay G. Dhande, Director, IIT/Kanpur; and Prof. M.S. Ananth, Director, IIT/Madras.
