Because of May 1st the week under report was shortened by one trading day. However, the sales figures proportionally fell by far more aback. Enquiries by spinning mills with the local merchants were indeed existent, but the price ideas ranged clearly below the replacement basis in the countries of origin.
Therefore, the opportunity for the conclusion of new contracts was strongly limited. The availability of cotton from the running season approaches already an end in the case of some growths, respectively is connected with carrying charges which need to be calculated. Some other growths are at present not offered because of the predominant low quotations.
