Sundarban Textile Mill in the Satkhira district, one of the biggest state run industries in southwestern region of Bangladesh is facing setback in production due to electricity problems like repeated load-shedding and voltage fluctuation.
Sources from the mill said that because of these power problems, three to four motors go phut daily which led to a financial loss of around Tk10 million during the last four months.
The mill needs an average of two megawatts of electricity everyday but they get only one megawatt. It produces around 9,236 kilograms of yarn daily, but they are unable to achieve half of the target, as of the 60 spinning machines 30 has remain inoperative due to the power crisis.
