RMG imports show brighter side of B'desh

Domestic markets are flooding with garment products from Asian and Least Developed countries (LDCs), especially Bangladesh.

Statistics show that apparel exports from Bangladesh to Sweden and other EU nations is growing considerably on the back of Generalized System of Preferences (GSP).

Experts say that most of the clothing in local markets is from Asian countries, which is discouraging for manufacturing enterprises. However, this trend is bringing the developing and LDCs is whole new light.

Till recently, locals knew almost nothing about Bangladesh and viewed it only as a poor country. Now, the swarming ready-made garments from this small nation is generating awareness among people about its brighter side.

Bangladesh is known to supply to several major European fashion brands and these products are available at most malls in Sweden.

On the other hand, the allegation of inhuman working conditions in Bangladeshi garment factories, is become a huge concern.

Industrialists have urged the Bangladeshi Government to take aggressive steps in the matter and provide healthy atmosphere for the workers, who are the reason for surging income
