According to Mukhtar Ahmad Sheikh, Chairman, Faisalabad Garment City Company (FGCC), modern technologies will boost garment sector to earn foreign exchange up to US $80 billion.
Government has taken constructive initiatives to set up three garment cities in Karachi, Lahore and Faisalabad with a cost of Rs1.42 billion.
Faisalabad Garment City (FGC) will require an estimated amount of Rs600 million and will be developed in the sorrounding area of Khurarianwala Industrial Belt. Here a five storey block with all basic utilities and facilities will be constructed.
A training center will be provided to train man power for the garment sector. The FCG would encourage promotion of Small and Medium scale Entrepreneurs (SMEs) and provide about 9000 direct jobs and around one lakh indirect ones.
In the next couple of months the construction of FCG would start.
