Garment export unit price rises by March

In March, unit price of garment exports increased by 10.7 percent, significantly lower than 30 percent in the previous two months.

Export unit price marked at US $2.76 per set, up 9.04 percent, 3 percent higher than the increase of the previous two months. Woven garment price improved 5.6 percent and knitwear price gained 12.8 percent.

Unit price of garment exports to the EU maintained a growth of 17.7 percent. The growth rate further expanded from the first two months. Average price of exports to the US still decreased, with a drop of 2.1 percent, one percentage higher than the first two months.

Woven garment and knitwear prices both showed negative growth. Yarn price of exports to the world dropped 9 percent. Fabric export price remained a slight growth.

Clothing import price significantly raised during January-March, textile imports marked $3.6 billion, a boost of 4.2 percent. Garment imports scored $400 million, maintaining a 6.8 percent growth. Clothing import pace was still larger than textiles.

In garment categories, knitted apparel imports grew by 9.6 percent, woven clothing imports increased by 4.7 percent. Wool garment imports showed a fastest growth of nearly 40 percent. Wool and leather clothing imports mounted 60 percent. Garment (including knitwear and woven wear) import price rose 27.6 percent.

In textiles categories, yarn imports reached 423,000 tons, valued at $1.03 billion. Volume and value both fell,to 3 percent and 1.2 percent, respectively.

Decrease rate further expanded from the previous time. Fabric imports registered $1.9 billion, a growth of 6 percent.
