“In 2004, SPESA and Urban Expositions decided to co-locate their respective shows in response to the needs and wishes of the industry. The inaugural Three Great Events was a great success,” stated Benton Gardner, SPESA Executive Vice President.
“SPESA approached the 2007 event with optimism and confidence that our alliance with Material World and AAFA would again produce a world-class exhibition. We were not disappointed. The collaboration and cooperation among the three organizations strengthened our individual products and facilitated business and educational opportunities.” Dave Gardner, Managing Director of SPESA added, “By all accounts, SPESA Expo 2007 exceeded our most optimistic expectations.”
“This show had great momentum, outstanding educational programming, and a truly diversified and global attendance,” remarked Kevin M. Burke, President and CEO, AAFA. “Our industry came to Miami to do business – and they did.” Representing countries and regions throughout the Americas, Europe, China, India and Pakistan, exhibitors reported steady traffic and brisk business throughout the three-day event.
In addition to product resources, attendees also had the opportunity to take advantage of a unified educational curriculum, which gave them a comprehensive series of programs to choose from for all three events.
Among the highlights were the two headliner breakfast events co-sponsored by AAFA and SPESA: The Executive Sourcing Summit opened the show with top executives Rick Helfenbein, President, Luen Thai USA; Arne May, Vice President, Footwear, Manufacturing & Sourcing, The Timberland Company; Tom Glaser, President, Supply Chain Europe/Asia, VF Corporation; and Tom Travis, Managing Partner, Sandler, Travis & Rosenberg, P.A.
