Organised by Sewing Machine Traders Association (Singapore) (SMTAS), a big array of apparel machinery, accessories, management systems, as well as washing and drying equipment was showcased at the exhibition which was held from 20 to 23 March 2007 at Singapore Expo. The exhibition was supported by Singapore Exhibition and Convention Bureau, Textile & Fashion Federation (Singapore) and Singapore Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry. It was officially opened by Mr S Iswaran, Minister-of-State for Trade and Industry, Singapore.
The exhibition attracted more than 260 exhibitors from 23 countries and regions, a record in the history of the show. There were also three national pavilions from Singapore, China and Germany. A total of SGD 31.2 million worth of deals was concluded during the show, as reflected by an exhibitors' survey.
Feedback from exhibitors also indicated a strong interest in participating in overseas editions of AAMA-TEX. Many exhibitors surveyed expressed a willingness to take part in AAMA-TEX in South and Southeast regions, especially in India.
Says Mr Wong Bun Huge, Vice-Chairman of the AAMA-TEX 2007 Organising Committee, “We are pleased that AAMA-TEX 2007 has received such enthusiastic response from the industry. For some time now, fellow industry colleagues from South and Southeast have been prompting us to bring the exhibition closer to the garment manufacturing powerhouses of the region."
"The exhibitors' survey further confirmed this view. In light of this, we will be launching the exhibition in Bangalore, India, next year. We are confident that AAMA-TEX India 2008 will enjoy similar success as it leverages on the established AAMA-TEX brand name and track record."
AAMA-TEX 2008 will be held in Bangalore, India from 14-16 March 2008. The show is expected to attract some 150 exhibitors and 6,000 trade visitors.
