Introduction of TARA Handloom Machine

Handloom Industry is to receive fillip with the introduction of the highly productive handloom machinery called TARA, which will help improve quality and volume of its productions.

As an initiative, action has already been taken to distribute 10 TARA machines in trial basis among provincial council Textile Ministries the trial already made revealed that the Quality of Fabric & the production capacity (output) of these looms are higher due to technology that applied.

The reductions of time for a unit of a product would be resulted minimize the cost of production therefore the income of the people who are engaging in this industry shall be definitely increased.

Hon Minister of Textile Industry Development, Jayatissa Ranaweera informs that Government of Sri Lanka has accorded top priority to develop this sector while taking steps to popularize this technology to benefit the local handloom industry.

The progress of the production of handloom fabric through this machinery is being reviewed and action will be taken to introduce the considerable number of machineries to the Sri Lankan Handloom Industry in near future.
