Yarn production increases in Q1

Chinese chemical fibre output has touched 7.3 million tons, in the first four months of 2007 showing an increase of 17.24 percent as compared to the same period previous year. Zhejiang province remains the highest producer with 42 percent of total output, which is around three million tons.

The yarn production has reached 5.7 million tons, with a growth rate of 20.42 percent as compared to same period 2006. Shandong province tops the race with 1.5 million tons produce which is 28 percent of the total output.

Chinese cloth saw an output of 14.48 billion meters, with a rise rate of 11.54 percent as compared to same period of last year. Shandong province manufactured 24 percent of the total output, which is 3.466 billion meters.

In the first four months of 2007, garment production has touched 5.537 billion pieces, with an increase of 14.46 percent as compared to the same period of 2006. Zhejiang province manufactured 25 percent of the total output, which is 1.385 billion pieces.
