The second meeting of the Sino-US strategic economic dialogue is expected to be held in Washington. This dialogue is expected to chiefly focus on bilateral issues involving major interests of both sides. Important global economic concerns, which need to be resolved, will also be tapped. Several topics covered by the first strategic dialogue will also be further discussed.
In addition, there are other topics that could be brought up for this meeting, such as capital flows and supervision (the big gap in cross-border securities investment between Sino-US bilateral statistics), financial regulatory information exchange, monetary policy coordination, energy strategic coordination.
China can also put some issues to the US.
How would the US effectively adjust its unsustainable savings-investment model, reduce the budget deficit and improve savings rate, so as to make a significant contribution to reduce imbalances in global current account?
How would the US take work together with China, other countries of the world and international organizations to control restrictive trade practices by some transnational giants and avoid provoking unfair trade disputes and create healthier business environment?
How would the US remove discriminatory treatment on Chinese products, especially the 'double punishment' in countervailing and anti-dumping issues?
On one hand, the US does not recognize China's market economy status in the anti-dumping practice and on the other it imposes countervailing law on Chinese Commodities.
Moreover, both sides will make joint efforts to restart the Doha Round and discuss other topics.
