Lepakshi expo ends, May 27

The Lepakshi exhibition cum sale at Chandrasekharan Nair Stadium is organized by the Andhra Pradesh Handicrafts Development Corporation ended on May 27.

The Lepakshi heritage collection has over 60 different stalls where a huge collection of handlooms and handicrafts like bags, bed sheets, beaded jewelries and saris from all over the country can be seen under one roof.

The saree collection at Lepakshi was quite impressive. The hand made Venkatagiri saris were liked the most. There were saris from other parts of India, cotton and silk saris from Banares, Madhya Pradesh, Andhra, West Bengal, Jaipur and Madurai, in famous designs of Pochampally, Mangalagiri and Kalamkari ones.

Jewelry stalls with beautiful Rajasthani handmade ornaments, lacquer bangles and pearls from Hyderabad attracted the most crowd.

This fair aimed to popularize, marketing and spreading awareness about the crafts of Andhra Pradesh. It also gave the artisans a chance to display and sell their handicrafts.
