The tendency of firmer cotton quotations at the New York Board of Trade continued in the week under report. Additionally, an again stronger US-dollar aggravated the buying conditions on Euro basis.
Enquiries from spinners side came in rather hesitantly and mainly for price testing. Hence, the purchasing interest was strongly reduced in the week before the Pentecost holiday. Correspondingly, the reported turnovers were quite low.
In the Upland range were traded: West African types for prompt, Central Asian sorts also for prompt and Greek descriptions for loading in the 2nd quarter 2007.
In the LS/ELS range, turnovers were registered in Egyptian GIZA 86 for prompt and further in the 3rd quarter 2007; GIZA 88 for prompt; Sudan Barakat prompt ex warehouse and Central Asian long staple cotton for the 2nd quarter 2007.
